I have allergic reactions or bad side effects from antibiotics even my PCP doesn’t know what to prescribe?

Allergic reactions or bad side effects ranging from rash, to gastrointestinal probems to anaphylactic (cipro) on meds such as cipro, erythromycin, doxycicline, biaxin, keflex, zithromycin, bactrim., suphur, amoxil. Where do I go from here?

  1. J B says:

You take one of the meds that gives you GI problems. Often, the symptoms decrease after a couple of days on the medications or, you take them with food to decrease the symptoms. Unless you are vomiting up every single dose shortly after taking it, the meds that give GI symptoms only would be the ones your doctor could still use. Those giving anaphylactic reactions should stay on your allergy list.
