I recently became allergic to something, and I have no idea what. It got so bad that I had to go to the hospital and even take steroids. How much would it cost to see an allergist to find out what I’m allergic to, and how exactly do they figure it out?

Elpi is partly right. Insurance usually will cover the allergy testing, but most insurance companies will not cover the allergy treatment. If the thing you are allergic to is something you can avoid, then testing will help you a lot. Allergy treatment can cost $5000 or more and insurance may not pay one penny of it.
