PostHeaderIcon Have you heard the news on allergies?

I was just reading an article in Parents magazine and I wanted to share it with you parents in case you all haven’t heard this yet I will type it word for word (all caps will be what they printed in a different color):

Food allergies are on the rise in kids-and now there is more evidence that AVOIDING CULPRITS LIKE PEANUT AT A YOUNG AGE MAY BACKFIRE. In a new study published in The Journal os Allergy and Clinical Immunology children who didn’t eat foods containing peanuts during early childhood were ten times more likely to develop a peanut allergy than kids who ate peanuts before 12 months. Researchers suspect that EXPOSURE TO PEANUTS EARLY ON MAY HELP KIDS BUILD UP A TOLERANCE to them and prevent the allergy form developing. Talk to your pediatrician about when to introduce your child to foods that contain peanuts.

Now obviously if there are allergies within the family this may not apply BUT for the most part I have always believed this was true. What are your thoughts on this and had you heard this yet? Frankly I am happy this is finally getting out there… I’ve always believed this!
D&d’s mom.. well of course this is general and doesn’t go for every kid
excuse typos that were not picked up by spell check…I was feeding Jacob while I typed.
JOhn B is back…. that is why I said if there is family allergies it is a different story duh!
Sry: that first edit I meant to type D&M’s mom not D&Ds’ MOm
parents today are too damn scared by all these studies… even 20 years ago many parents flew by the seat of their pants and what they knew from common sense and their parents. Why else are allergies on the rise now that parents have put off introdcing allergy inducing foods until 2 or almost 3 years old? STUDIES and HYPE

PostHeaderIcon Is there anything to prevent allergic reactions to cats?

See, my friend is staying over at my house for like a week, but she’s allergic to cats and we have one.

We already vacumned my room, and like most of the rooms really well… And our cat doesn’t sleep on the beds…

My friend will also be bringing allergy medicine and an inhaler.

Is there any thing else we can do to prevent the allergy reaction?
It’d be bad if she got like her allergy reaction because the rest of her family lives like 3 states away…
