In allergy terms, what is the distinction among pollen, grass, ragweed, and trees?

Author: Last night’s late local news ran a story on allergy triggers. According to a graphic, 82% of people have pollen allergies, 68% have grass allergies, 55% have grass allergies, and 48% have tree allergies. (I can’t remember the exact numbers, but it was something like that.)
The thing I couldn’t understand is the distinction between pollen and the others on the list. I thought pollen was emitted by grass, ragweed, trees, and other plants.
Please set me straight or freely criticize the reporters.
If you are allergic to mushrooms and you eat one, how do you feel? What are the allergic reactions?
Also, is there any medicine you should take to stop the allergic reaction?
Yes, I know you should go to the doctor. And no, I’m not allergic I just want to know….
